DO's:

  • Salicylic acid and retinol: Salicylic acid is a common ingredient in acne treatments and is known for its exfoliating properties. It can also cause dryness and irritation. Retinol is a powerful exfoliant that can cause dryness, redness, and irritation in some people. When used together, these ingredients can cause excessive dryness and irritation. 
  • Vitamin C and AHAs/BHAs: Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps to boost collagen production and improve the appearance of dark spots. AHAs and BHAs are chemical exfoliants that remove dead skin cells. When combined, they can cause excessive dryness and irritation.
